FAQs

A child care will be selected and announced at the end of March 2027. The child care operator will follow their own policies and procedures for waitlist and registration processes. Parents will need to reach out directly to the operator (April 2027).

Yes. The HDSB will be offering the Secondary Gifted Cluster at the new high school.
A Secondary Gifted Cluster (SGC) is a model in which students identified as gifted learn
within regular, de-streamed Grade 9 and 10 classes—such as English, Math, Science,
History, and Geography—alongside their peers, following the same Ontario curriculum
and course codes. Within this setting, their strengths and learning needs are supported
through Differentiated Instruction (DI), Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and IEP
accommodations, with opportunities for increased breadth, depth, and pace of learning
when appropriate.
Students have an Identification of Giftedness with a placement of Indirect Service –
Secondary Gifted Cluster, meaning they remain in a regular classroom with a cluster of
gifted peers. Their teachers receive specialized consultative support, including additional
professional development, to help meet the needs of these learners. While the curriculum
is differentiated for gifted students, they are assessed using the same criteria as all
students in the regular academic program.

We are currently finalizing the boundaries for the Community Pathways Program at our new high school. If your child is currently in Grade 8 within a Community Pathways Elementary program, please rest assured that Special Education Services will reach out to you and your school directly with high school location details.

Those interested in working at the daycare will need to apply directly to the child care operator once announced.

Oakville Transit is currently planning service to support the opening of the New Oakville Secondary School in September 2027. As part of their ongoing annual service planning process, transit routes and schedules are reviewed and adjusted to reflect community growth, travel demand, and operational considerations.
Details regarding service to the school are still being finalized and will be communicated once they become available. Students and families can expect transit information to be shared in advance of the school's opening.
In addition the Travel Training Guide provides a step-by-step guide on how to use Oakville Transit, and where to find information. Students ride free with a PRESTO card.

Yes, students will be required to wear a school uniform. This decision was informed by feedback from students and families who identified benefits such as building a sense of belonging and school identity, reducing clothing-related pressure and simplifying the school day.

As the school prepares to open, student and family input will continue to inform how the uniform is implemented, including considerations related to affordability, comfort, fit and available uniform options. More information about the uniform, including available options, costs and how to purchase items, will be shared with families before the school opens.

FI will not be offered.  However, French AP Prep and French AP Courses will be offered.  In addition, students will be well prepared to challenge DELF Exams in Gr. 12.

You can use the New Oakville Secondary School Address Locator to determine if you live within the school's boundary.

You can use the New Oakville Secondary School Address Locator to determine if your student is eligible for bussing. *Please note that students in the Community Pathways Program have a different transportation process.

The Halton District School Board is excited to offer the Community Pathways Program at our newest high school. The Community Pathways Program is a regional program for students who are working on Alternative Curriculum due to an intellectual disability, a developmental disability, or a significant communication disorder.

Students are offered placement in the Community Pathways Program after going through the Identification Placement Review Committee (IPRC) process where it is determined that the student meets the required criteria for entry into the program.  In some cases the placement outcome of the IPRC is Partially Integrated. This placement decision allows a student to take a mixture of credit bearing courses from the Ontario Curriculum and non-credit bearing courses, derived from Alternative Curriculum.

The Community Pathways Program has two phases; a four year phase where students build a strong foundation in functional academics and develop community readiness skills . The second phase prepares students for life after school through either the Community Skills Co-Op or the Employability Skills Certificate.
