An Exceptional Student Experience In and Beyond the Classroom
valuable learning experiences taking place in HDSB schools & offices
We are deeply saddened by the school shooting in northern British Columbia. Our thoughts are with the students, staff, families and community members of Tumbler Ridge, BC and all those impacted by this devastating tragedy. In honour of those affected, flags at HDSB offices and schools have been lowered.
Feb. 2, 2026 - In recognition of Black History Month in February, schools in the Halton District School Board (HDSB) have planned initiatives that engage students in learning about, celebrating and honouring the lives, contributions, achievements and brilliance of Black Canadians, past and present.
Jan. 27, 2026 – Two Halton District School Board (HDSB) teachers are recipients of the Governor General’s History Award for Excellence in Teaching, Canada’s most prestigious honour in the field of history. Ian Duncan, teacher at Garth Webb Secondary School, and Heather Howell, teacher at M.M. Robinson High School, are recognized among a small number of educators nationwide and are the sole recipients from Ontario this year.
