H.O.P.E.S. is an opportunity for suspended and/or expelled students to pursue both academic and therapeutic learning. Students who have been suspended for six (6) days or more or have been expelled from all schools in the Halton District School Board may attend this goal-driven program.

What is the H.O.P.E.S. program?

The H.O.P.E.S. program provides meaningful and differentiated learning experiences in a respectful classroom environment.

Upon entry to the H.O.P.E.S. program, students, their families, and school teams meet with the H.O.P.E.S. social worker and teacher to discuss goals. These goals are documented in the Student Action Plan. This plan creates academic and personal goals for the student.

Once the student's expulsion or suspension is over, the student presents the Student Action Plan to his/her home school for permission to re-enter the school system.
