October 31, 2024 - Oakville NE #3 PS is targeted to open for September 2025. At present, Falgarwood PS is one of the holding schools for the future school opening. As home closings are continuing in the area, accommodation pressures are increasing at Falgarwood PS.
In order to bridge the gap between the current accommodation pressures and the opening of Oakville NE #3 PS In September 2025, it has been determined that a redirection will be implemented to address accommodation pressures. This redirection is split between the following three grade ranges:
- Full Day Kindergarten (FDK) - JK to SK
- Primary Classes - Grades 1 to 3
- Junior / Intermediate (J/I) - Grades 4 to 8
Once any of the above grade ranges hits maximum capacity, a redirection will be triggered for that grade range.
Effective as of October 31, 2024, new student registrations for Junior Kindergarten (JK) and Senior Kindergarten (SK) will be directed to Dr. David R. Williams PS. Falgarwood’s four (4) FDK classrooms have reached their maximum number of students (29 students in each classroom). As such, new JK and SK student registrations that fall within the affected zones (see below), will now be redirected to Dr. David R. Williams PS.
New Grade 1 to 8 student registrations within the affected zones will continue to register at Falgarwood PS. As of October 31, 2024, the primary and junior/intermediate grades have available space to continue to accept new student registrations. Staff will continue to monitor the classroom capacities of these grades. If capacity is reached for any of these grade ranges during the 2024/25 school year, a redirection may be implemented for these grade ranges.
When will the redirection begin?- The redirection for FDK students is in effect as of October 31, 2024.
- The redirection for Grades 1-3 and or Grades 4-8 may be implemented at a later date, once classes have reached full capacity.
