The Board of Trustees has approved Option 6a for the South Milton / Milton SE #13 PS boundary review. As outlined in the report 24158, the redirection period will officially conclude on January 8, 2025.
Actions:
- New students: Effective immediately, new students residing within the Viola Desmond PS catchment area are to register at Viola Desmond PS.
- Current students: Students currently attending Boyne PS in grades K-6 (2024 school year) and residing in the Viola Desmond PS catchment area will return to their designated community school, Viola Desmond PS, starting September 2025.
Effective Sept. 2, 2022, students registering in the English program at Viola Desmond PS will be redirected to alternate nearby schools until further notice. This results from the school reaching maximum capacity as the new boundaries created from the Rattlesnake Point PS and Cedar Ridge PS school boundary reviews are implemented. Students will return to their neighbourhood schools, once enrolment in the community stabilizes.
Who Will be Impacted?
New student registrants in the English program at Viola Desmond PS will be redirected to nearby schools based on where they live.
- Students residing in the area south of Whitlock Ave, west of Regional Road 25, north of Britannia Road, and east of the CNR Tracks (Viola Desmond PS catchment) will attend Boyne PS (Zones D & E).
- Students residing in the area south of the P.L. Robertson PS catchment, west of the CNR tracks, north of Louis St. Laurent Blvd, and both sides of Tremaine Rd (Viola Desmond PS catchment) in Grade 4-8 will attend P.L. Robertson PS (Zone A)
- Zone A is currently transitioning to P.L. Robertson PS from Viola Desmond PS. As a result, students in Kindergarten to Grade 2 and Grade 3 are attending P.L. Robertson PS in the 2023-2024 school year.
