The Halton District School Board is seeking parent/guardian, staff and/or student membership with lived experience to be part of the Board’s Accessibility Coordinating Committee (ACC) to help support commitments outlined in the 2020-2024 Multi-Year Plan and Accessibility Multi-Year Plan (2017 - 2022) and the new Multi-Year Accessibility Plan currently in development for 2022-2026. The HDSB Accessibility Coordinating Committee will provide input on the scope and direction of initiatives to promote equity of access from an accessibility perspective. 

The ACC is a multi-stakeholder entity with broad membership from school and board-based leadership. We are seeking to extend this membership to include a broader range of stakeholders with lived experience in our facilities. The Committee functions to ensure legislative obligations are achieved to support the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act as well as aligning resources to support our Multi-Year Plan and advance accessibility of our schools and resources to our community.

Meetings​

The ACC meets four times per year, currently virtually, on the third Thursday of the month. Each meeting is approximately two hours in length. 

Applicant Criteria​

  • Commitment to serving a two-year term
  • Resident of Halton, HDSB parent/guardian, HDSB employee and/or HDSB student with lived experience and/or expertise in accessibility services
  • Demonstrated commitment and passion towards advancing accessibility initiatives through identifying, removing and preventing barriers for people with disabilities who work in, use or access school board facilities and services 

If you are interested in being a part of the Accessibility Coordinating Committee, complete the ACC Expression of Interest Form and submit by May 20, 2022.​
