Program Overview
The HDSB Graduation Coach Program is designed to support academic excellence and help remove system barriers that Black-identifying and 2S&LGBTQIA+ students face within learning environments. The program provides comprehensive and culturally responsive supports to help students thrive academically and improve their well-being. Coaches work with students to affirm their identities and develop tools for lifelong learning and success.
Core Team
Each HDSB school with a Graduation Coach Program has a dedicated Core Team that partners with the Graduation Coach to support the academic, emotional, and social needs of students. This team includes representatives from the school’s Guidance, Student Success, Special Education, and Administration staff as well as parents/guardians.
Working closely with the Graduation Coach, the Core Team collaborates to share insights, resources, and opportunities tailored to individual students. Through this coordinated effort, the team ensures that students receive targeted, comprehensive support, helping them access resources and achieve their goals effectively.
