The CEMC holds mathematics contests every year which are taken by students around the world; approximately 50 VSS students took part in completing various math contests. Grade 12 students wrote the Euclid math contest, Grade 11 students the Fermat and Hypatia contests, Grade 10 students the Cayley and Galois math contests, and Grade 9 students the Pascal and Fryer math contests.
“The contests are a great fit for students with a range of abilities, from learners who want to explore math and develop their confidence to advanced students who want to stretch their limits,” says teacher Anchla Joshi.
Joshi says students should be proud of their accomplishments.
“Virtual Secondary School's Grade 12 students were ecstatic to know they achieved fourth place in the province and fourth in Canada. Many students won medals and received certificates of distinction and participation.”
