Changes to the Board of Trustees and Committee of the Whole meeting schedule, for a trial period of three months, were announced at the Jan. 10 Halton District School Board meeting. Among these changes, the public session of meetings will begin at 6 p.m. The trial period will run through the months of February, March and April.
The revised meeting schedule is as follows:
- Feb. 7 - Board meeting
- Feb. 21 - Committee of the Whole meeting
- March 6 - Board meeting
- March 20 - Committee of the Whole meeting
- April 3 - Board meeting
- April 17 - Committee of the Whole meeting
The public session of all Board of Trustees and Committee of the Whole meetings will begin at 6 p.m. starting Feb. 7, 2024. In past practice, the public session of Board of Trustees meetings started at approximately 7 p.m., following a private session which began at 6 p.m. Throughout the trial period, Trustees will begin the public session of the meeting at 6 p.m., with the private session to follow afterward.
Changes to the schedule aim to increase meeting efficiency and streamline processes. Following the three-month trial period, the feasibility of continuing with a revised schedule will be reviewed by the Board.

Quotes“As a Board of Trustees, we recognize the time commitment of the public and staff to attend Board meetings. It is important that we honour and value their time as they balance other responsibilities and priorities, both personally and professionally,” Collard says. “An effective way to acknowledge this is by refining our schedule and starting the public session of Board meetings promptly at 6 p.m. for a three-month trial period from February through to the end of April. Through this revised schedule, we will demonstrate our respect for everyone’s time, and set the tone for proactive collaboration and engagement.”
