Judi Goldsworthy, the Halton District School Board’s Manager of Health & Safety in the Human Resources Department, has received the provincial
McCordic Award from the Ontario Association of School Business Officials (OASBO).
The McCordic Award was established in 1980 and is awarded each year to recognize an outstanding contribution to the service of school business. Candidates are recognized for their contribution to the service of school boards with outstanding dedication and exceptional merit.
OASBO brings together dedicated professionals who are committed to collaborative development, sharing and promotion of leading business practices in the support of our students.
“I am deeply honoured by the nomination and flabbergasted that I was selected as this year's recipient,” Goldsworthy says. “I am blessed to still be as passionate about my profession 32 years later and to have the commitment of our senior leadership team for all 17 years at HDSB. I have been privileged to meet and work with talented, caring people throughout the organization, who are committed to ensuring the best educational experience for our students. Every day is different, most days I learn something new, and the Health & Safety team are like family, so how can I not enjoy it?”
"Judi is a champion of health and safety,” says Sari Taha, the HDSB’s Superintendent of Human Resources. “Her tireless work and unwavering commitment to building and promoting a workplace culture that places the health and safety of staff and students at the forefront of everything we do will have a positive, lasting impact on the HDSB."
Goldsworthy has some advice for professionals looking for ways to strengthen their work and commitment to their craft.
“Don't be afraid to fail - we learn from our mistakes and our greatest personal and professional growth comes from our biggest challenges along a sometimes bumpy road.”
