The Halton District School Board recently held a successful Arrive and Thrive event, designed to welcome and support the well-being of newcomer students to Halton.
“This event builds our individual and collective capacity to serve students who have different experiences of coming to Canada, and being in Canada, so that all our students will thrive together in Canada as valued for their true and authentic best selves,” said Mary Jane Farrish, Equity and Inclusive Education System Principal for the Board.
Approximately 145 teachers, early childhood educators, administrators, social workers, child and youth counsellors, and settlement workers participated in Arrive and Thrive held March 3.
Activities included a six-member student panel, a keynote facilitator, a presentation on mental health and well-being of students who many have experiences of trauma, workshops and resources to support work.
