Martin Street Public School will be welcoming more than 540 students on the first day of school, Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017, following the completion of an 18-month construction project that has transformed the historic Milton school into a state-of-the-art building.
The original school, built in 1920, has been rebuilt on the same site and incorporated many architectural elements of the near century-old building including the front façade. Students and staff have been accommodated at Boyne Public School during the construction process.
Martin Street is an up-to-date two-storey, 76,100-square-foot elementary school offering both English and French programming. It will accommodate 753 students and include a Life Skills hub with two classrooms, kitchen area and sensory room. It will also include a science lab, art room and media/IT room, equipped with current technology such as cameras, robotics, a green screen, microphones, iPads and Chromebooks.
