More than 4,000 students from Burlington, Halton Hills, Milton and Oakville attended Grade 12 in the Halton District School Board this year. Of all these students, many graduates are preparing to embark on a new journey at university or college in the fall.
To celebrate the accomplishments of our graduates, we’ve profiled a few of the many students from across our Board who are receiving scholarships and awards for post-secondary education this year.
Yash Mulki, graduate of Abbey Park HS, is a recipient of a
Schulich Leader Scholarship to the University of Waterloo. This
scholarship is awarded to entrepreneurial-minded students enrolling in a science, technology, engineering or math program. Yash is one of only 100 recipients across Canada.
“Winning the scholarship has been a dream come true,” says Yash. “What I'm most excited about is the opportunity to engage with, and be a part of, a national network of leaders in the STEM field through the Schulich Leader Program.”
“My schooling at Abbey Park has played an integral role in preparing me for post-secondary education and receiving my scholarship,” says Yash. “From high level Advanced Placement classes to the school's excellent teachers who have supported me on my educational journey, Abbey Park has helped me explore my intellectual interests.”
“Our school's administration has also actively engaged with the student community to create a better learning environment – for example, some friends and I worked with our school's administration to organize a hackathon focused on introducing students to computer programming.”
Yash plans to study Software Engineering at the University of Waterloo.
We wish all our graduates success as they pursue their post-secondary studies.
