Congratulations… you have been selected for an interview with the Halton District School Board!
Being invited for an interview can be really exciting, but it can also be nerve wracking. Please find helpful tips below that will help you better prepare for our interview process:
Prior to the interview, we recommend that you review the job posting and think about the ways your experience relates to the posted position. Think of specific examples from your previous work, school or volunteer experiences that demonstrate your strengths, skills, and qualifications, including examples that have contributed to your personal growth.
Review the HDSB website including the multi-year plan to help you better understand our organizational values, mission and values.
Ordinarily the interview team will consist of two or more people. You will be asked standardized questions; the interview team will make notes to assist them in remembering what you have said. During Covid-19 you may be invited to complete a digital interview. You will need a device with a microphone and webcam and a reliable internet connection.
In some cases, you may be asked to return for an additional interview(s) with a different interview team.
One of the ways to succeed in an interview is to ensure you are prepared. We strongly encourage you to arrive 10 to 15 minutes prior to your scheduled interview time to collect your thoughts and to review your resume. By planning to arrive early, you will minimize additional stressors that could arise in the event that you experience unexpected delays, such as traffic, finding an available parking space, getting lost, etc.
Ask us questions too!
The interview is your opportunity to learn more about the role and our Board. Your interview affords an opportunity for you to see if you are a good fit for HDSB and, at the same time, provides you with an opportunity to determine if HDSB is a good fit for you!
Be prepared to ask a question or two to help you better understand the position and/or the HDSB.
