Employability Skills Certificate (ESC)
The Employability Skills Certificate program is a special skills program available to high school students in self-contained classes.
This program gives students a chance to specialize, get qualifications, and plan a career pathway in various areas of the workplace sector while still in high school.
The ESC program gives students work-readiness skills, so they may pursue post-secondary opportunities.
What to expect
Students will be exposed to workplace experiences such as:
- Meeting entrepreneurs and other business people
- Attending Community Integration through Cooperative Education College program information nights and job fairs
- Taking part in real-world opportunities, completing cooperative education courses and earning certifications like WHMIS
- Developing problem-solving, teamwork, initiative and independence skills in a workplace setting.

Interested students should speak to the head of the secondary self-contained program to determine their eligibility for the program.
