If so, here are some factors to consider and steps to take:
For starters, you can apply to the following out-of-province universities through the Ontario University Application Centre (OUAC):

If you are considering a university or college in the U.S., here’s some important information for you. Be sure to complete thorough research before you proceed.
- When researching, remember the terms college and university are used interchangeably in the U.S., unlike in Canada.
- Many students applying to universities in the U.S. require a
Common Application. It is critical to start this process with a Guidance Counsellor as early into your Grade 12 year as possible. Be aware of deadlines.
- There is no equivalent of the Ontario Universities' Application Centre (OUAC) for American universities, so each university requires a separate application, and/or you can apply online to hundreds of schools through the
College Board website.
- Please refer to your
myBlueprint.ca/halton account where you can research universities in the U.S. and check out their Studying in the United States Guide. You can also learn more about the American College Testing(ACT) and the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) assessment. Check to see if either the ACT or SAT is required by your chosen university or college.
- If your are interested in Athletics in the U.S., be sure to check out the
National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).
- Consider attending the
U.S. College Expo. These expos often take place in the GTA. There may also be other local opportunities to explore U.S. programs hosted by the HDSB and other organizations. If you have the chance, visit your chosen U.S. college or university in-person or virtually.
