The Levelled Literacy Intervention (LLI) program continued for groups of Grade 1 students as a tiered literacy intervention strategy.
All elementary educators participated in a full day of training on Mathematics teaching and learning
New teachers received training and mentoring opportunities through the New Teacher Induction Program (NTIP)
Online self-directed learning opportunities were created for elementary educators in a variety of areas including French as a Second Language, Kindergarten, Literacy, Math, Student Success Planning and English as a Second Language (ESL)
Created Nature’s Near a new environment studies program for high school students
HDSB hosted The Future That Fits, a Pathways program for Grade 10 students at the Milton Mattamy National Cycling Centre
Conducted a four-part series for French Immersion teachers from Grade 1-12
Twenty-four schools qualified for Healthy Schools Certification in 2019/2020 (5 Secondary, 19 Elementary).
Developed a set of online PD modules and videos for new ESL/ELD teachers and all classroom teachers to support multilingual students in their K-Gr.12 classes.
In March 2020, all classrooms pivoted to remote learning due to the global pandemic. All Board efforts focused on supporting staff and students in a continuity of learning model.
Provided professional services virtually, including Social Work, Child and Youth Counselling, Psychology, Speech-Language Pathology and Behaviour Analysis
Provided Mental Health resources for students, parents and staff for use during virtual and face-to-face learning periods
Developed and delivered a Structured Reading Program for students with learning disabilities
Created and provided summer learning and support opportunities for students with special needs
