​​​​​​​​​​​​Go​al 1 - The Halton District School Board will integrate proactive and strategic communications with the Board’s initiatives and achievements in order to increase public confidence and understanding.

• Increased focus on promoting school and student successes, including 87 “Spotlight” features on Board website, 71 news releases issued, three editions of Education Matters newsletter for parents with 27 stories of school and student success.
• Increased social media presence. During the 2014-15 school year sent 433 messages to nearly 10,000 followers on Twitter.
• Upgraded Boardroom technology to include live-streaming of board meetings and meeting functions.

Goal 2 - The Halton District School Board will plan, provide and maintain facilities as safe, accessible, comfortable and engaging learning environments for all students and staff.​

• Anne J. MacArthur Public School opened in February 2014 accommodating 840 students.
• Initiated year one of a 3 year plan on “Close the Gap” projects. 
• Improvements were made to Full Day Kindergarten classroom in 3 schools.
• Approximately 30 portables were relocated during the 2014-2015 school year.
• Construction began on two new elementary schools - Oodenawi Public School in Oakville (September 2015) and Boyne Public School in Milton. (September 2015) 
• Improvements made to special education facilities at 9 schools.

​​Goal 3 - The Halton District School Board will provide and maintain a technology infrastructure to engage and support 21st century learning for all students and staff.

Information and Communication Technology

During the 2014-15 school year were more than 30,000 board-provided devices (desktops, laptops, tablets, ipads and Chromebooks) available for student and staff use, with more than 40,000 on an average week. We have close to 100,000 unique wireless devices active on the HDSB network at one time.

Results from a $2 million technology investment during year two of a five-year plan include: 
• more than 8,000 devices were purchased last year (desktops, laptops, tablets, ipads and Chromebooks.

IT Support for Staff

• 100+ video resources were developed for staff by the Information Centre. 
• 16,534 service requests were created. The majority of requests were for Information Technology questions and support.​
