​About the Boundary Review

At the January 22, 2020 Board Meeting, Trustees of the Halton District School Board passed a motion (see below) to initiate a process to review the boundary for the French Immersion program at Aldershot High School. This boundary review is only for the secondary school optional program (i.e., French Immersion Grades 9-12).  A Boundary Review Steering Committee will review options for students entering Grade 9 effective September, 2020.

On March 4, 2020 Report 20024 that included recommendation Option 1 was approved by the Board of Trustees.

Notifications

A notification was sent out on January 24, 2020 to parents/guardians of Aldershot School and Maplehurst Public School to inform them of the Boundary Review.

Boundary Review Steering Committee (BRSC)

Once the Board has approved the initiation of a school boundary review, the Superintendent of the affected Family of Schools will establish the Boundary Review Steering Committee and lead the school boundary review process. This committee will consist of:

  • Family of Schools Superintendent(s) of all affected areas
  • Superintendent from a non-affected area
  • General Manager of Planning
  • Trustee(s) for all of the affected areas

As necessary, the committee may also include the following supplementary members:Superintendent of Program

  • Superintendent of Business Services
  • Superintendent of Student Services

The affected school Superintendent will chair the committee. The Steering Committee will review school enrolments, school capacities and school programs. It should be noted that the Boundary Review Steering Committee is not a decision making body and does not make the final decision regarding any potential change to boundaries as a result of a School Boundary Review Process. The recommended optioin is presented to The Board of Trustees for approval.
