About The Review
As a result of the Oakville NE #2 ps boundary review recommended scenario (Board Report 19024) a “To Be Determined (TBD)” area was created for an area north of Dundas Street East and east of Trafalgar Road in ERA 118. The TBD area was directed to White Oaks SS and had no designated elementary school. The TBD area contains a number of development applications which contains approximately 5,000 residential units.
As of September 2020, the developer has indicated that the first phase of residential closings is expected to start April 2021. It is recommended to perform a boundary review to designate school(s) prior to closings to temporarily accommodate students until Oakville NE #3 ps opens.
On January 15, 2021, the Boundary Review Steering Committee (BRSC) had its inaugural meeting. At this meeting, the BRSC selected Pathway #2 as the consultation process that will be followed given the limited number of options; the absence of existing residents; and the urgency to complete the review. Preliminary options were reviewed. At the follow up meeting on January 22, 2021, the BRSC recommended that Option 2 be presented to the Director of Education for consideration.
On February 17, 2021,
Report 21027 was presented to the Board of Trustees as information and for future approval. A
presentation was provided to the Board outlining the work that the Boundary Review Steering Committee completed in developing the options.
On March 3, 2021, recommendation Option 2 as outlined in the
Report 21027 was approved by the Board of Trustees. The approved resolution read as follows:
Whereas the Oakville To Be Determined Area is defined as the undeveloped residential area at the north-east corner of Trafalgar Road and Dundas Street East to the south-west corner of Highway 407 and 403 interchange, as presented in Appendix A of Report 21027,
Whereas elementary students that currently reside within the rural areas within the Oakville To Be Determined Area maintain their current accommodations,
Be it resolved that the Halton District School Board direct elementary students to the following school effective immediately:
- Falgarwood Public School for Kindergarten to Grade 8 for English programming
- Munn’s Public School for Grades 2-8 for French Immersion programming.
The approved changes are effective immediately. Falgarwood PS (ENG) and Munn’s PS (FI) are to accommodate students generated from new residential development in the TBD Area until such a time Oakville NE #3 ps opens and a new boundary is defined.
Any current students in the TBD area on rural properties will continue with their current school accommodations.
